We're Pregnant with Baby #2!
I’m so glad this isn’t a secret anymore!! We’re just past the first trimester and our due date is early September! The timing couldn’t be any more perfect, because Rowan will start school two days a week in September, plus we can work on potty training and transitioning her into a big girl bed before the new baby arrives. Rowan turns two March 25th, so all of these things fit perfectly in our timeline. God is good!!
We feel so blessed to be growing our family and to have gotten pregnant so quickly — first try! Our first pregnancy took seven months and then I miscarried. If you haven’t read this story, it’s a pretty neat one. I’ll include the link HERE.
We’re excited to find out the gender in about six weeks, but I’m not sure how I want to do it. We’re waiting until the anatomy scan and finding out while in a small room with a sonographer isn’t really what I have in mind. I’m thinking about passing off the envelope to a friend or family member and letting them help reveal so that we find out WITH our family and friends. This is what we did with Rowan, and I think sharing the celebration with those you love makes it so memorable. If you have any gender reveal ideas, please share in a comment below!
What I’m really anticipating is what it’s going to be like having TWO kids! I feel busy with just one, and a newborn’s needs are a lot different than a toddler’s needs. I have many girlfriends with two children and they’re all supermoms, so I’ll be leaning into them and all of you for help. I’ve learned this is a big part of motherhood — sharing, celebrating, and venting to other mamas who totally get it!
When I compare this pregnancy to my first pregnancy, so far the only real difference has been acne. You guys, I had to YouTube how to cover acne the other day! I’ve not had acne like this ever, but I’ll take acne any day over being sick! I bought Benzoyl Peroxide face wash last week, but it’s not helping a whole lot because my breakouts are hormonal. I’m going to talk with the doctor about it at our next appointment on March 13th, but, in the meantime, thank goodness for good makeup!
My bump has definitely “popped” quicker this time around which I’m totally OK with, because I loved my pregnancy bump with Rowan! I’ve always wanted to be pregnant during summer so I could wear a cute swimsuit and sport my bump. Well here’s my chance. LOL! With Rowan being born so large (9 lbs 3 oz), I’ll likely be induced early and have the baby in late August. Talk about a summer pregnancy! August is the hottest month here in Texas, and the very end of pregnancy is always the most miserable. Eppp!
We’ll be sharing the news with Rowan some time soon, probably around her birthday. I want to get her a baby doll and stroller and try to explain this way. But then will she get it?! I guess we’ll see, and you all will be along for the journey! We’re so excited to be adding to our family, and I’m so thankful to be able to share my family with you!
Thank you Malarie Hall Photography for capturing our family. I’m so thankful for your friendship!
