My Favorite Organization Solutions in Our Home
Living in an organized home just feels good and makes for a lot less stress. Would you agree? Today I’m giving you a peek inside our cabinets and drawers to share some of the things that help keep us organized.
The key to organization is adopting the mindset that everything has a home. If you’re wondering where to start, follow the tips outlined below and then work towards a system that fits your family so you can maintain organization.
How To Get Organized
Empty the space: Clear the space and clean it throughly.
Minimize: Create piles for things you want to sell/donate, recycle/toss in the trash, and keep. Get rid of anything that’s gone unused for 6+ months.
Categorize: Working with the keep pile, group like items together.
Compartmentalize: Place like items in bins, trays, boxes, etc. and store.
I recommend starting with your pantry. It’s not a huge space, so it seems manageable, and it’ll help set the tone. You’ll love it when it’s done and want to continue the trend throughout your home (let’s hope!).
Consider using see through bins so it’s easy to determine where things go, or bins with labels are helpful. You want to avoid storing items on the floor and bins on wheels help utilize this space neatly. This is where we store lunch boxes, trash bags, water jugs, vinegar, etc.
We’ve had these expandable utensil trays since we moved in 4+ years ago and I highly recommend them. They’re super efficient!
Cabinet organizers are great for storing plates upright which I think is a polished look. Be sure to measure the height of your cabinet before ordering.
The best way to corral products is with bins. My best advice - purchase all the bins. Ha! Tidy up cabinets by tossing old products, combining similar products, and placing any products that are nearly empty towards the front so you grab them first.
Trays are great for keeping drawers organized. I found these clear acrylic trays at Target and I like that they can be removed for cleaning.
I found these shelf dividers on Amazon and they come in handy for compartmentalizing.
I hope these finds help inspire your journey to get organized or fine tune what you’ve already done. And if there’s something you have in your home that you love, let me know in a comment below!
