The color black is a principle for classic design, meaning it will always be in style—think little black dress (an essential in any woman's wardrobe, right?). The same is true with black in home interiors. It's timeless, dramatic, and demands attention.
With a mostly gray and white home, it's clear I like bright, airy spaces, but decorating with black as an accent is what gives our home visual variety and creates a bit of a modern scheme.
When building our home in March 2015, I envisioned black trim and iron chandeliers in our entryway for a redefined, sophisticated look that I was drawn to when browsing Pinterest.
Only the trim in our entryway is black and because our home is open-concept, it was important to carry this accent color throughout our home. So I incorporated iron counter stools and a matte black faucet in the kitchen. The black faucet complimented the dark variations in our granite and created contrast against our white cabinets. I'm still considering adding iron pulls, but that's for another day!
In the living room, I incorporated the color black with the area rug and iron candle sticks styled on the mantle. Just this week, I decided on a black ceiling fan (finally!) that coordinates with this room.
I love the richness this dark hue adds to our home and although it's bold, I dare you to give in a go!
And before I go, I want to say a sincere thank you for spending a little bit of time with me today and always. I appreciate all of you more than you know. Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
