Silver and Gold Christmas
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!! Our tree is up and our home is decorated for Christmas. It’s so nice to be able to enjoy it as things get more hectic through the end of the year. I’m early, but I hope I can spark some inspiration and holiday spirit!
Silver and Gold Christmas Tree
This Christmas already feels magical with Rowan (19 months) who is enjoying the Christmas trees and ornaments—and wooden horse whose head she broke off. Ha! Earlier this week I shared her pink Christmas tree and bedroom decorated for Christmas that you can catch HERE. It’s so much fun introducing these things to her, along with classic Christmas movies and songs, and family traditions like riding around in Christmas pajamas to look at Christmas lights. It’s these moments I hope she will always remember and carry on as tradition with her own family… Now a look at our home!
Silver and Gold Flocked Christmas Tree
Every year I walk the isles of Hobby Lobby to see what I’m drawn to and decide my color scheme from there. Of course I gravitated to white and all of the metallics! It’s hard to deviate from my neutrals, y’all. But if you’ve been following me, then you know it’s my acclaimed style and I’m thinking you love it too!
This was my first year decorating our Christmas tree with ribbon, and I love how it turned out! It looks upscale and is so easy to do. Next year I may go wild and add 2-3! It saves on ornaments too, because it fills out your tree. I like to decorate my Christmas tree in layers and outlined steps for you to follow below.
How to Decorate a Christmas Tree
Ribbon: Cut ribbon into 3' stands. Starting at the top of the tree and working in a 30° diagonal, tuck the top, bottom, and end of the ribbon into the tree. For second and third ribbon options, cut it into 1’ strands and tuck at the top and bottom. *Pro tip! Be sure to buy thick (3.5”+) wire ribbon. You want wire ribbon so that it can be shaped.
Large Ornaments: Hang your largest ornaments working in a diagonal direction. You can see more about this on my Instagram under the Highlights titled “Christmas Tree”.
Tree Picks: Start by placing your tree picks on the outer perimeter, spacing them wider as you work your way down the tree. Use any leftover tree picks to shove into the center of the tree, still working in a diagonal direction. I also like to use tree picks to create a tree topper, so this is when you’ll place those too.
Medium Ornaments: Hang medium ornaments sporadically.
Small Ornaments: Hang small ornaments anyplace you need to fill a gap. Think of small ornaments as filler. If you find you’ll need a bunch of small ornaments, add more medium ornaments instead.

Christmas Mantle Decor
I usually decorate our Christmas mantle with fresh garland, but this year I was determined to find good faux pieces that I could reuse over and over. I layered three garlands together to create this look, starting with two 6’ faux cypress garlands that I styled in opposite directions so the branches would fall toward the floor. Then, I layered a faux magnolia garland on top and arranged cypress branches in-between the leaves to create a cohesive look.
Given the three garlands and oversized candlesticks, I was happy with the look as is.
I’ve had these simple stocking holders for years, and I like that they lay flat and don't obstruct whatever I have laid across my mantle.
Stocking markers are a favorite of mine, because of the personalization element. Embroidered stockings are a good option too!
Winter means blankets and having a few extras around the house will have your family and guests feeling cozy!
This raffia coffee table is a new addition in our home, and I moved the mirrored tray and jumbo candle from the entryway table so that we could enjoy the candlelight when lounging on the couch.
Christmas Tablescape
Pulling things I already had on hand, I created this easy tablescape perfect for holiday dinners and parties.
I used faux snow, mercury glass votives, small glass ornaments, flocked trees, and house shaped candles to create a centerpiece. Then, I set the table and added cloth napkins that I knotted and decorated with small pieces of greenery.
Lastly, I added a glass swing-top bottle filled with water and two taper candles to help set the mood.
With our calendar filled with activities, parties, and traveling, home is where we can relax. We’ll be embracing this season with happy hearts, and I hope your season is every bit as joyful!
