A First Birthday Letter to Lennon

We’re celebrating Lennon Jules turning one! This past year seemed to pass quicker than any other because life is busy with two kids, but even through the chaos, we feel blessed to be together and in good health.

It brought back emotions when browsing photos and videos from Lennon’s birth one year ago, and it was a good reminder about what’s most important. In this season of life, I’m trying hard to be fully present in everything I do, like spending time together with family.

These are the best years, and I want to soak them up!

To our second born daughter on your birthday,

You’ve grown so much in your first year, and we’re embracing every moment! You have four teeth, wave bye-bye, give kisses, growl for fun, and LOVE to dance! You resemble your dada, but you’re mama’s little girl. And we think you may end up having red hair like your Lolli.

We call you “lemon”, because this is how Rowan pronounced your name when we brought you home. She wasn’t sure what to think about you at first, but now one of her favorite things is to open your bedroom door in the morning. I know you two will be best friends, and this sisterly love is special.

You were our light in a hard year full of unknowns as our world stood still in a pandemic. We’ve always been incredibly blessed, but you were our newfound joy, and family is all we ever need.
