Outdoor Living

We love patios in Dallas, and “patio weather” is a big deal around here—so much so it could be a season.  So you can understand how adding a patio to our home was a priority and now it's our favorite spot to relax and entertain.

When designing this space, I had to take the outdoor kitchen (1/2 the patio) into consideration and with seating at the bar, there really was no need (or room) for a table and chairs.  I wanted plenty of space for lounging, so I went on the hunt for a big ole comfy sectional.  It was my first time shopping for outdoor furniture and MAN was I surprised by the steep prices.  I discovered the Portside Sectional which was perfect with it's modern clean lines and gray cushions.  Most importantly, I must note we've had it a full year and it's holding up really well in all-weather conditions.

I wanted to incorporate lanterns into the look, but I needed specific lanterns (no wood or glass), because our patio isn't covered.  I'd been eyeing the Caleb Lanterns from Pottery Barn and when I realized they were made of iron, I just had to have them.  They're perfect for outdoor living spaces.

And pillows.  Every lounge area needs pillows.  Lots and lots of pillows.  I scooped up these when they were on sale and they're still on sale!

The bar area has three counter-height bar stools that took me forever to find.  I knew exactly what I wanted, but it was really tough to find all-weather ones.  I finally landed on these Monaco Counter Chairs from Industry West and they were spot on.  This retailer is always offering promo codes, so sign up for their newsletter to get special offers.  It's worth it!

I styled this casual place setting with these driftwood chargersmelamine plates (so impressed by their quality!), sky blue dinner napkins, and the cutest little bud vases from Charming Events Company.

The outdoor bar cart is one of my favorite finds.  It's cute and serves as a place to sit things on, keeping stuff off of the counter.

And how could I forget (I almost did), the string lights with antique Edison bulbs are THE perfect backdrop and I just love them.
